June / July GD: Dianne

Hi Fitztown, please help the Fitztown Design Team welcome Dianne. She will be one of our Guest Designers for June / July and we're very excited to have her with us. Here's a little bit she wants you to know about her:
Hi, I am Dianne and 52 years young. I have a fabulous loving hubby, Mark, and I have two children, Daniel, 21, and Lauren, 19. I live in Doncaster in the UK. I have been doing some kind of a craft for a long time; whether it was cross-stitching, knitting or sewing but my love for paper craft started about seven years ago and I have been making cards ever since. I just love it and I am always willing to try something new. I love stamps and digis and all types of colouring mediums. I am still brushing up on my colouring now.

DT Day with Lynn - Celebration Blog Hop

Well I sure hope you are all enjoying the Birthday Blog hop here at Fitztown !!

Here's what I created for my DT Day project...

I used the lovely image GARDEN 7 which can be found here.

I decided to make a few cards using one image and keep them pretty simple...
and if you know me, you know I love CAS !!

I coloured each watering can the same and added different colours to the flowers
I cut each image out using a circle die, then matted each image on a colour to compliment the flowers
I embossed white cardstock cut slightly smaller than my card-base to give some texture and interest
I used a couple of stamped images from Stampin' Up for the cards
I left one card without a sentiment so it could be given for any occassion.

I hope you liked what I've created !

Don't forget you have until May 31st to play along with us at the blog hop !!

GD Crafting Vicky - Celebration Challenge and Blog Hop

Hello everyone hope your week is going well!!  It's time for me to share with you a card that I did for the Celebration challenge # 37. The Design Team is also hosting a blog hop so be sure to pop on over here and check out all the prizes and inspiration from the team!
Don't know about you but I always have trouble doing some masculine cards! This was the perfect opportunity to do one because I got to play with Car 10.
The paper for this creation is from Awesome - Simple stories.  I used my nesting frame 10 from Quickutz.  I added some silver Robin's nest drew drops.  I also added a little gear from my stash.  I thought it was the perfect embellishment for a masculine card!
Here's a closer look at the fabulous digi that I colored with my Prismacolor pencils and some solvant. I put some black soot distress ink all around the image as well.
I really hope that I have inspired you to play at the Celebration challenge there are sooo many fabulous digis to play with!! Don't forget! This challenge is also a blog hop and there are lots of prizes to be won! Be sure to go check it out here!
Hugs

DT Kate

I have use the image Valentine 1 and color it with Faber Castell.
It´s a congratulation´s card!
I embossed the inside with a folder from Darice.
Stitches, organza and a scissors are my embellis on this card.

We have a holiday in Sweden so I just going to relax today!!

DT Lynn: Challenge 36 - Thank You

Well it's Lynn here with a post for this week's Thank You Challenge.
I sure had fun creating this week's project !!

I decided to make something totally different with my image this week and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.
I made a candle using the image FL3 which can be found here.
I made a matching tag to go with it:
It was a lot of fun and I learned a whole lot!

Here's the basic steps to creating a candle using a coloured digi image.

Step 1
Print your image on tissue paper.
Run taped tissue paper through your printer on some card stock for stability.
Make sure you tape it with masking tape to hold it in place.
Step 2
Colour your image; being careful not to press too hard or add too much wet ink to it, or the tissue paper will tear.
Step 3
Cut coloured image out and place on candle.
Step 4
Apply wax paper over the image and around the candle, holding tightly, and heat with your hair dryer or embossing tool (I used a hair dryer). Make sure you heat it enough that the white part of the tissue paper blends right into the candle, but not too much to melt the candle!!
And here's the final product...
Here's the tag and candle together:
Please note that the pansy on the tag is coloured in purple and yellow like the candle, but turned out quite BLUE in my photo.

I hope I've inspired you to play along with us this week at Fitztown in our Thank You challenge!!

June / July Guest Designer - Hazel

Hi bloggers! Please help the Fitztown Design Team welcome Hazel as a Guest Designer for Fitztown. We're very excited to have her join us! This is what she'd like to share with you today:
My name is Hazel and I’m retired.  I’ve crafted all my life.

I was born in the 1940s and so almost everything in the home was handmade. I can remember making ‘proggy mats’ with my mother when I was just seven or eight. I don’t suppose many blogging friends will know what one of those is, apart from maybe those bloggers in the NE of England. When I was about twelve I helped my mother make spare covers for the sofa and armchairs and this was all by hand as we couldn’t afford a sewing machine in those days. It was hard work but I loved it.  I went on to make soft toys, rag dolls, dried flower pictures and wooden mobiles for children’s bedrooms. I crocheted, knitted and sewed many clothes for myself and family but have had to give that up with the onset of this current eye problem. I have always made cards and scrapbooks, on and off, throughout the years. About twelve years ago I was looking after a ten year old girl and she was ‘bored’ so I started her on some greetings cards. She loved making them and took them into school to show her friends and teacher. The teacher asked her to make some for her and she would pay her! Of course, she was straight here to use my stash and she sold about ten to her teacher. She was so buoyed up with the whole thing that it inspired me all over again and I did not stop making them.

My husband died almost two years ago after being ill for only four weeks and I thought I would never get over it. We had been married almost 48 years and were never apart. My blogging friends have been very supportive throughout this time and have continued to follow my blog even though the posts were a little thin on the ground. I did keep up with my DT commitments and in the past few weeks I have felt able to spend more time crafting. My husband had always been very involved with my hobby and that’s what I miss too. I know he’s right there behind me saying “go on, Hazel, I know you can do it”.  Thank you for giving me this opportunity to be a member of a fantastic and well organized  design team.

Precious story! I teared up a bit! I hope we can make her feel welcomed into our little community. Please give her a warm welcome.

GD Cathy-Challenge No. 35: Feminine

Hi, my name is Cathy. I live in Hertfordshire in the U.K.
I am 62 years old. Don’t tell hubby he still thinks I am in my 30s! lol
I have been married to the love of my life for 29 years.
I have a step–daughter who lives in France with her husband.
I had to retire from work early through ill health. It is my blogging and crafting that keeps me going some days.
I love my crafting and, if I have too miss a day in the craft room, I get the grumps!!!

I love using my stamps but have found that digi images are so more flexible as you can use them for any size card or project.
I love sitting and colouring but I need more practice at blending and shading.
I also adore all the different dies there are on the market to use, they really bring the image that you are using to life.
Here is the project I've created for my first time as GD at Fitztown:

I was so thrilled and honoured to be asked by Ema to Guest Design this week.
